Envy is a malignant force in the life of any human being, let alone in the life of someone who professes to be a believer. King Solomon put it superbly “… Envy rots the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30)

When we give envy a free rein in our lives, it can easily set in motion a chain of events that could be catastrophic for all parties involved. It could lead to murder, slander, and many other vile actions (James 3:16).

Envy also has the tendency to fuel selfish ambition.

Am I saying being ambitious is wrong? No! But when it becomes selfish, it is destructive. This is simply because the feelings of others are never considered. The only thing that matters is feeding the cravings of an envious and selfish person.

Let’s make a quality decision today, to stand against envy and selfish ambition. To celebrate the progress and success of others instead of being antagonistic and envious.

Remember love does not envy (1 Corinthians 13:4).

Have a great week!
